We at Sew Vac are big believers that a company should give back to the community.
This Saturday at our Sew Addicted Club, we discussed charitable sewing. Our members became so excited about it, that we decided to start a local chapter of charitable sewing.
In the past, Sew Vac customers and staff have come together to make blankets for the fire department to use at local fires for the victims. We have also made quilts to sell to raise money for the American Red Cross, and raised money for the Scott County Humane Society. However, we wanted to do more and on a larger scale.
We still have some things to work out, but our first step is to invite local charities to come speak at our meetings to let us know what they could use. We have sent emails to several local organizations our members were interested in assisting. We are trying to benefit both animal welfare and human welfare organizations.
